URBAN ITINERARY

Musée Groesbeeck de Croix

« Crazy love / L’Amour Fou »,1998, Portuguese pink marble

The museum showcases some marvellous collections of applied and utilitarian arts as well as decorative arts dating back to the century of the Enlightenment : furniture, silverware, porcelain, glassware, etc. The museum is located in the Louis XV style hôtel de maître (period house), which was refurbished between 1750 and 1753 in accordance with the plans of architect Jean-Baptiste Chermanne. The works were commissioned by Count Alexandre François de Groesbeeck.
The main courtyard opens out onto a boxwood garden in which the trees have been trimmed in asymmetric shapes along a path that runs towards a pavilion.
